- Ararat is a sacred mountain for Armenians, although it has been in Turkish territory since 1920. Armenians to this day cannot reconcile themselves to its loss, and attachment to this mountain is still readily expressed in culture. Ararat is the brand name of Armenian cognac, mineral water, the representation of the mountain is present in everything Armenian, including the Armenian coat of arms.
